A collection of leaflets, news bulletins, announcements, schedules, form letters, pamphlets, and other documents produced by the People's Print Shop at Brown University's "Free University" during the May 1970 strike, a protest aimed at ending the war in Vietnam, and, to a lesser extent, a call for the end of political and racial repression in the U.S. Harry Watson, the collector of this material, was the coordinator of the People's Print Shop. Also included in the collection are three photographs of strike activities, and an earlier handbill (1966) titled "State of the Union."

In 1917 the university established the Brown War Records Bureau, whose intention was to "collect and preserve a record of all Brown men who are serving in the present war". Brown faculty, students and alumni who were in the military were asked to fill out a small card called "Are you in the war?" and to send original letters, clippings or photographs which "have any bearing on the service of Brown men in the war."
